Missionaries working with churches outside of Birmingham, UK will be setting up a foodbank.  Church members will be helping out and volunteering time with the local food bank in their town.  Lichfield will be starting up a foodbank in the city of Lichfield and Lichfield Christian Church members will be among many helping to run it.  The number of people relying on foodbanks has tripled in the Uk since last year.  While  the cost of living has increased , wages for many have not kept up with the increase.  Also, problems with the claims of benefit payments is also reported to have caused a lot of people problems as well.  The large supermarket chain "Tesco" has promised to donate all its surplus food to help supply the food banks (source: BBC, "Numbers relying on food banks triple in a year", 16 October 2013).  Read more>>
